I've got 5 or 6 (Every time I count I count 5, but I can remember buying 6... and none have died, either) panda corys. They all swim together in a little group, except for this little one I have. He's the smallest of them all and just sits on a leaf or in a corner, all alone. He doesn't move. He's alive and well; no illness, the tank is at tip-top chemistry levels, and no bullies. If I try to get him to move by putting my algae scraper in the tank, he'll swim away fine but then goes back to the same spot. It's a little odd. Anyone know what could be wrong with him? Is he just a solitary guy?

Also, does anyone's corys swim up the sides of the tanks? It seems my corys swim more on the sides of the tank then the bottom! It's so silly :D !

Hi chibi

I'm so sorry to hear about your little panda. :-(

It's not unusual for a panda to go fast if it gets sick. They just don't seem to be able to withstand a long period of illness.

Please give your tank an extra water change and bottom cleaning and watch the others carefully. I hope you have better luck with them.

Corys are such playful creatures, aren't they? I love to watch them going up and down the side of the tank. They seem to interact with each other much more than most other fish do. :D

Sorry to hear about your lil cory. :(

We just lost our albino, Panic!, and he was a lot smaller than our other two. To stop that next time, we're picking slightly larger corys, i.e. an albino cory thats a little older rather than the tiny weeny ones we saw in the pet store.

Our corys also go more up the sides of the tank and in the centre. But from watching them it turns out they're just playing. Our bronze cory, Jack Dempsey, plays a lot with his reflection, which explains him sticking around the sides of the tank rather than the bottom.

Our peppered cory, Doug, prefers to play in our new bubble curtain than stay around the bottom of the tank. I guess its just them playing as they are very playful. If you notice, though, during feeding time, they stick around the bottom, and only really hang around the bottom looking for food. Since ours have other things to occupy them, they dont spend much time around the bottom of the tank.

Hi Chibi

 Sorry about your lost Panda, I lost 2 of my Panda a few weeks ago and had similar behavior with. Sitting hardly move even other Cory Pass by, then next moring died.

Like many people said panda isn't hardy Cory no matter what Tank raise or Wild cought.

Also water condition very important.

I bought 4 wild cought adult Cory Panda and two were died. I went back [return two dead Panda] and choose my own fish rather than sell peson trying to catch inactive fish, now I have 6 wild Cought and they are well and Happy.

Please don't give up the Cory Panda, they are cute little one.

I love Most of the Cory.

Thank you
