The other night i got to go to the beach at night where my this guy i knew hatched loggerhead turtles and was going to release them.Don't worry he does the turtle patrol and the nest was being disturbed. WE got to pick up the turtles and let them go and held a flashlight ahead of them so they followed the light into the water. :D

Something I've always wanted to see.

I've seen the turtles hatch countless times on nature documentories, but I've always wanted to see it for myself and protect the little mites from the gulls and crabs on their long journey to the sea.

A few years ago I *just* missed seeing a female loggerhead come out of the ocean to lay. I'd gone out w/ my camera just before sunrise to walk on the beach (Sunset beach, NC) and crossed a turtle track in the sand and turtle patrol was there counting eggs and whatnot. The lady there said if i"d been an hour or two earlier I probably would have gotten to see the whole process :X
