Bonour Everyone,
I am new to this site (but have been using others, sorry), i particularly like all the various specialised catagories here and know i will be here for many enjoyable hours gathering info. asking questions, and hopefully answering a few for you guys along the way.
I am soon to move and my 180l tank has been dismantled (luckily i have converted a few friends who now have most of my fishstock and plants, much to my relief). I am currently running two tanks using remaining stocks, the planting is similar as i was over-run with Vallis and Hygrophila in particular (my friends having had the pick of the other stock). I therefore tried an experiment to create two different looking tanks and they are very loosely described as Tank 1 = Asian River, Tank 2 = Asian Pond.
I come from Dorset with very hard, alkaline water (pH8.4, gH14) and having run both tanks heavily planted with bogwood decor for two years (in one form or another), tank params average throughout day to pH7.6, dH8.
On moving ( 2 miles in approx.3 months) i will be using the 180l to attempt the realms of softwater tanks RO water, CO2 and additonal lighting and am currently swamping myself in info.
The tanks at present are "low tech" planted with aquagrit and single aqua-glow lighting (to be improved later), i'm generally pleased with the design and most importantly all occupants are happy and healthy.
Your comments are always welcome
