i bought a blue lobster for my fish tank hes about 4 inch long and is quite happy living with the other fish. im just wanting to no if anyone else has a lobster and knows any info on them,eg like how big do they get and so on

My LFS dude suggested one of them to me and he said this big!! <-----> with his hands and was a about 10inch I suppose.

Any chance of a picture?

Interesting, I saw a small 3" blue lobster at my LFS and liked them so much I started reading on them. I then ditched the idea of having one as all the literature I found said they would eat any fish they can get hold of.

take the picture, get it on your computer, make sure the file size is under 100kb, if not reduce it.

You'll have to post in the aquruims pictures forum as this forum bit doesn't allow pictures.

the at the bottom of the posting page click on th browse button and select your picture then just click add reply!!

Cobolt blue lobsters only grow to 5inches!
Blue and Blue knight lobsters grow to a foot long!!!
Your gonna need a big tank to house one of those beasts and a big-ass place for it to hide! They grow ultra rapid as well! My LFS guy said his grew an inch a month for 3 months and then slowed down!
As a rule they are slow moving and from my observations spend most of the day dreaming of catching a fish, slowly creeping up to them and then... "OOOOhhh I'm just 2 slow to catch a fish!! DAMMMIT!!!" Its funny to watch but they dont have an ice cubes chance in hell of catchin a healthy fish!

I'm not allowed to get one because my girlfriend doesent want her dirty fish gettin hurt!

5inches  sweet. I think when i have some more dosh again I'll get another 10 gallon or more to replace my 5 gallon one that my crabs will go in, then I'll beable to manage a cobalt blue.

Just get one she won't notice  stick a picture of a fish to the side of it

I have an australian blue lobster that currently has eggs. Now. Ive separated the male and all other fish into another tank.

Is there anything else that I can do to ensure the hatching and safety of the young??

:D

Put that question in the breeding area. After the eggs are dropped, remove the mother probably. Some species might guard their eggs...

Righty I now know that my LFS dude can get me one for around £15, i'm not completely sure which species but I'm pretty sure it's one of the smaller ones. They would come in at aorund 4" .

Would it beable to live in harmony with other fish including bottom dwellers or not.

Or whats the minuim size one can live in with over invertebrates only, so red claw crabs and shrimp. I was thinking of getting another 10gallon for invertebrates then a 25gallon (ish) for a tropical fish set up.

Also how many could I keep together?

Cheers.

I've seen them around £7 here in the midlands. I was amazed by how it looked but resisted the buy as I knew nothing at the time.

Hmmmm I swear fish seem to be more expensive aorund here...

I'm trying to get some research done before I even buy the tanks, to make sure there not too small.

I know Narayan has one. An Australian Blue Lobster or something like that, forgot the exact name. Was chatting w/ him a couple days ago. Why don't you PM him?

Cheers,
