Are there any loaches which are UNDER 10cm, preferably not Corydoras. [I do like them I just want something different.]

pH - 6.5-7.5
Hardness 5-15
Length of tank - 3ft
Width ' ' - 45cm
Height ' ' - 55cm

Any ideas?

Loads of loaches would suit those basic criteria, which are cyprinids and not catfish by the way, making corydoras loaches impossible under normal circumstances ;)

Is this tank empty of fish and wanted critters, or are their existing inhabitants that the loaches need to be compatable with?

Yoyo loaches are apparently too aggresive to keep with neons and other small tetras.

Yo-Yo loaches are larger than 10 cm.

Most Pangio species top out at about 10 cm. I'm particular to kuhli loaches. They are an absolute joy in the aquarium.

Check out dwarf chain loaches as well. They're quite attractive, but they can be a bit on the pricey side.

Yoyo Loaches aren't aggressive.

Do a search on Botia Striata or Botia Histrionica. They are nice loaches that don't get too big.

I know I REALLY, REALLY want some Kuhli Loaches :hyper: But my Mum hates anything that even distantly resembles a snake...

And Botia Striata are Zebra Loaches right? I was having a look at them. :good:

If anything looks like it, it looks like a worm! I love 'em, so squiggly and squishy
If you're mom doesn't like them, she doesn't have to look at them

In my experience, anyone skeeved out by their serpentine appearances quickly falls in love with them after they realize what characters they are!

my mom at first wasn't a big fan of the khulii when i first got them, even though she has relaxed about them she still refers them to snakey things.

botta loaches get pretty big and don't expect them to eat snails, my brothers never did. like khulii my brothers liked to hide alot as well.

Botia species will come out in the open if they have plenty of hiding places and pals around. Or if you get Botia Histrionica all the time no matter what, these aren't shy loaches.

Night61, what loaches do you refer to? A single Botia Striata demolished a snail infestation in my tank in two days!
