Hello everyone

I have got a 47 gallon community tank that is only partially stocked, 5 black neons, 2 dwarf gouramis 7 julli corys and i want to get some loaches to add to my tank

Can anyone recommend a small loach that is a good addition to a community tank? bearing in mind i dont want very big ones

Thankyou all for looking

sumo loach if you can find them... only get to 4-5 inch and their stunning fish.

khuli loach are very cute

and not particularly large
they look very cute when curled up in plants. best kept in groups as they tend to be more visible. although having said that, Fred is on his own now and still very bold.

yoyo's can grow to 6 inches, and considering loaches need to be in groups of at least five id stay away from yoyo's unless you have a larger tank for them in the future. for your application Botia kubotai or Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki would be perfect :good: . sumo loaches can be territorial, especially if there isnt adequate hiding. khuli's would also be great for your application :)

Thankyou everyone

I saw some dwarf chain loaches today does anyone have an opinion on them ?

I'd go with them.
"Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki would be perfect"

You guys need to learn your scientific names, common names are rubish, Rubix already suggested those using the proper scientific name. And I agree they are great fish and would be good for your setup.

Hello,

Yoyo's are awsome and only get between 4 - 6 inches. Dwarf loaches are nice looking to.

YoYo loaches can grow to 200mm/8", two of mine are that size, and The Wolf also has examples that big.

B. sidthimunki are called "dwarf" but until recently, there was a picture of a 100+mm example at loaches - I can't find it right now. B. sidthimunki are in the red list of endangered species.

fatfishman,
If you're still looking, I'd recommend Botia Striata (Zebra Loach) or, as already mentioned, Botia Kubotai (Polkadot Loach). These are great playful fish, don't grow very large, and should be kept in groups of 3-5. Yoyo's not only will grow bigger, but they are extremely active, so may pester your other fish. By all means, stay away from Yasuhikotakia Morleti (Skunk Loach) as these are the devil incarnate.

Certainly agressive way beyond what might be expected from a somewhat diminutive species.
