I'm thinking about getting a few yo yo loaches and I've been reading up on them and every site says there temperment is different, one says peaceful the other says semi-aggressive and one says aGgressive. I was just wondering if u guys knew very much about the yo yo loach I don't want to get a few and realize there not right for my tank. Any help would be great!

What are you keeping them? I think the perfect word to describe them is inquisitive, but some might say boisterous,

As long as you have nothing overly delicate or fancy finned then they shouldn't be a problem.

I would class them as peaceful (but very active). You need a long tank for this species, mad as a box of frogs

I have a 55 gal tank, 6 giant daniosb 5 black skirt tetra 2 bristlenose plecos 2 swordtails i think there all pretty tough

I had 4 yoyos in my 45 gal along with a few dd black angels. When the yoyos began to harass the angels, the yoyos got sold to another fishkeeper. A yoyo would swim right along side the angel and nuzzle its gill plate area. It would drive the angel nuts after a while as the yoyos can be relentless. However, the only actual hostile behavior I saw from the yoyos was between each other.

My three had the odd spat, but didn't do any injuries to each other, having plenty of hidey holes helps. I think most places advise keeping 3 or more so that any agro between them can get spread out and it doesn't only end up as one fish getting bullied all the time. A Pakastani in any pursuit it has chosen to follow is relentless, especailly if it involves food. But at least they are generally peaceful towards other fish but ALWAYS curious... I would liken them to a 5yr old kid always asking "Why?"

so why do some sites say there aggressive? are they just mistaken it for curiosity?

They will battle for dominance between the group but aggression is minimal,

People who attempt to keep them with the likes of guppys may call them aggressive but its just a case of having unsuitable tankmates,

In my expierience with loaches they will often bully smaller bottom feeder's such as Corydoras,Kuhlii loaches, dwarf cichlids, and from my observation's ,they will eat fry. Perhaps this is why some suggest they are, or can be aggressive.

Mine are very active they will follow my angles around as well as my tetras never too aggressive..
they are very playful with each other.
They are one of my favorite fish
