How often do you guys feed your bettas live/frozen foods such as bloodworms & brine shrimp?

Well, I have to prepare frozen blood worms every single day for one of my fish cuz she's a haggy little picky eater. But everyone else gets some every other day.

I've always fed live but I bought some frozen. Whats the best way to feed frozen?

How do you prepare the frozen bloodworms?

Well - I buy them in cube form.
Then I cut one of the cubes off and peel the foil top off. Then i take a small little dish and put about 1/2" hot water in it, and then set the cute (still in its plastic) into the dish. The warm water defrosts them, and they are then just sort of soupy. Then I take a toothpick or a teeny little measuring spoon and scoop some of them up and then put them into the water.

Careful with the toothpicks though - they love the worms so much they jump and you could end up with missing eyes or fishkabobs!

Thanks, I bought them in cube form too. I'll try my first feeding tonight.

I use little plastic tweezers like the ones they use in the optometrists office to handle contact lenses with. Many drug and chain stores carry them by the contact lense supplies. The tips are soft and won't hurt the bettas and they give a lot more control than using pipettes or toothpicks. Just a thought.....

I am not afraid to pick up a bloodworm, so I thaw out my cubes(I have to use 2 for all the tanks), I feed the bigger tanks their share. I then pick up one worm at a time out of the cup I defrosted them in and dangle them in front of my bettas. They come up and take it from my fingers.

To defrost, I just get a clean cup, some tank water and plop the cubes in. I have one boy that likes to "attack" his food. He grabs the worms and splashes around a bit to make sure it is dead before he slurps them down. He does it with pellets too silly boy.

Bloodworms make my skin crawl, for some reason.
The smell of them makes me want to  - if one touches me I have to scrub and scrub. I can't eat after I feed them to them either.

I can't believe they like to eat them.

Ewww.

I defrost in a interpet medicine cup with some tank water then feed with a pipette from the same medicine box. They often bite at the end of it but don't hurt themselves

I dont mind touching bloodworms but I want an easy way to pick them up. I feed live brine shrimp byu picking them up with my fingers and gently touching them on the surface of the water, they start swimming and get gobbled up.

I have to agree, bloodworms stink. But they love them so much. I have to wash right after too, to get the stink off my hands. I have found using my fingers is the easiest way to get one at a time. I used to use a 1/8 teaspoon measuring spoon, but I could never get just one or two worms on it. I would end up with 15 or so, which is too much. Never thought about using tweezers, I may try that next time.
