For those of you that feed live food to your fish. Do you just rinse the food or do you quarantine the food first in any type of meds/salt baths, etc?

I leave mine in a solution of myxazin for 1/2 a hour before adding it to the tank, unless you have fish which demand live food frozen is a safer option and just as nutritious.

my fish love frozen food...and its cheaper and like CFC said just as nutritious ;)

What is this CFC? I've never heard of it before.

I feed live food (bloodworms, sometimes tubiflex worms) and just do multiple rinses under running water when I get them and then again daily to keep them fresh and alive.

Frozen food just seems so icky. :(

Myxazin is a med that treats fin rot and bacteria infections.

I'll let him explain it more but thought since he won't be on again until tomorrow that I'd give you a brief overview of it.

Myxazin is a very mild malachite gren based medication used for treating sensative fish for bacterial type infections like fin and body rot. When used at a dose of 2 drops per gallon it make a effective sterilizing solution which can be used for sterilizing nets if you have multiple set ups and live food before adding it to the tank, i leave live foods (not feeder fish) in the solution for 1/2 a hour before rinsing it off with a little tank water and feeding it to the fish.
