i think a literature section would be good. Because if you need a book on lets say... starting an aquarium, you can ask for reccommendations. just a thought that popped in my head. I would like too hear the yays and nays

generally, the best aquarium books are specific to a single group of fish or a region of the world. right now, people just ask about books in the forum corresponding to their area of interest (i.e., asking about puffers in the oddballs section).

i'm not certain that i agree that we need a "fish-keeping literature" section since this sort of information is readily available anyways by asking around places. perhaps a pinned topic listing some excellent titles would achieve the same effect as a dedicated forum? fishkeeping literature isn't the most dynamic of genres and many of the older books are still pretty good in their areas.

I think that 'fishkeeping books' are a bit too specific to spark any interest, plus i dont know but i suppose the books vary in different shops alot. But yeah i think its too specific, and lets face it, we would just get the same threads asking 'what are good fishkeeping books?' I mean, either we would get the same threads over and over again or there would just be one thread about the best books or whatever.

Perhaps adding a thread in the fish index would be a good alternative? Like an index of good fishkeeping books submitted by members and seconded before permanent addition to the list?

that could work :good:

Our marine section has a 'Realm of Knowledge' pin with recommended books by our members. One a thread could be started in the FW section and pinned. SH
