At the min i have 110litre that i was in the process of fishless cycle but ended up getting some mature filter media so i got inpatient and i added 4 tiger barbs and a red fin shark been doing water tests every day not once has it shown ammonia or nitrite also been doing 20/25% water changes to be on the save side the tanks been set up 10 days now and every things goin perfect anyway been doin lots and lots of research and reading up on the forums almost every day I LOVE U GUYS ! lol

Anyway i was gonna get some more fish in 2 weeks but been wondering what i could get as i know the barbs and shark can be aggressive but had no probs with them im defo gonna get 1 more barb to make it 5 in the shoal what fish would you all recommend i should get ?

The sharks only small at the min when he gets bigger it will be ok to take him back to my LFS or will he be ok in a 110l ?

I'm not a big fan of tiger barbs in a community tank as they are too aggressive and major nippers. You probably need to up the quantity more than 5 to spread the aggression. You also have to be careful with the shark too as it will probably be aggressive toward fish of similar shape/size. For the size tank you havev, you are pretty much limited to community fish such as tetras, rasboras, guppies, etc. but once again, the aggression issue could be a problem with anything you put in.

Damn i wanted a good community tank but i loved the barbs so that pretty much messed my chances up i might take them back i have a few plants caves hiding places ect will that spread the aggression also tetras, rasboras, guppies, im not really keen on them fish all i can do is and some fish that ppl recommend and if theres signs of aggression take them back or add them to my other tank

I wouldn't recommend tiger barbs (from someone whose had experience of their aggressive side) however i would certainly recommend cherry barbs love these to bits and they are much mellower.

been reading up on them cherry barbs might have to do a little swap soon but tiger barbs are lovely

If you really like the looks of tiger barbs, you might want to try to find some pentazona barbs. They are quite similar looking and very peaceful. If you want a community tank, there really aren't a lot of options other than the normal peaceful community fish like tetras and the like. Most larger fish are not suitable for community tanks, (ie, too aggressive). And with only about 27 or 28 gallons, you really don't have room for angel fish which are peaceful but need a much larger tank. They definitely wouldn't work with the tigers either.

them pentazona barbs look very similar thanks rdd ill have a look in my LFS 2morow see if they have any
