Lily Pipes - Do I Need Additional Tubing?

If I pick up some inlet and outlet lily pipes (Flo) do I need any additional tubing to fit them to my filter (Tetra EX 600)?

Bit unsure of this myself, but I think you just need to get the correct sized glassware for the size of tubing you have. I believe they generally come in 13mm and 17mm sizes (or there abouts) but don't usually say if thats internal or external diametre. This is the problem I've hit when I've been tempted recently to get glassware... I think my EX700 has internal diametre of 12.3mm...

Same size as the EX600 tubing, though I thought it was listed as 12mm, haven't seen the .3 addition. I would have assumed the need for the 13mm glassware, anyone else?

If I can quote from AE forums:

"They fit 12mm pipes just fine

I think it's a far east thing and they state 13mm rather than 12mm but I don't know why "

No I have the Flo Pipes on my EX700.

Just take the ´u´ bend off (if you can call it a u bend) remove the plastic tubes and cut the hose to fit the new flo pipes.

I would drain all the water out of them first. lol

I used the suction cups and clips (small and large ones) that came with the tetratec to clip the hose to otherwise the hose can twist the angle of the flo pipes.

I will take a picture when I get home.

The Flo pipes show two suction cups which is why I thought they may be better than the cheaper sets with only one cup - if I can use the Tetra cups then it would be good either way.

Some of the more expensive ones also have 1 sucker.

I used the suckers that came with the flo pipes. I then used the tetratecs ones to hold the tetratecs hose in position lower down so that it wouldnt twist the flo pipes out of position.

Not sure what I am going to do when I put a white background on it though.


Mine are positioned on each like this:

}-C Top of hose

}----C Bottom of hose
}----C Bottom of hose
}----C Bottom of hose

Hope that explains it until I get back to England when I can do a better picture

in all its the 2 suckers and sucker mounts on the pipe
then at the top of the hose 1 normal sucker and clip
then at the bottom of your tank 3 suckers with extended clips

I think only Tetratec owners will understand what Im on about. lol

Those extended clips confused me when I first opened the box to my EX700

Some people like to have their equipment away from the back glass (hence the ´u bend´ being extended too so that you than then use the extended clips to have the spray bar and or inlet 2 inches off the glass.

When you get the Lily pipes you will notice that you have no choice but to have them off the glass due to the suckers being on the outside stem.
