i was recently looking at lights fro my new 180g on ebay and saw alot of super high watt lights(1000w!) for a very good price and on found out they are "grow lights". i guess they are for indor gardens but could you use them on an aquarium?

For fish only sure, but not for corals... Most "Grow" lights put out around the 5000 to 7500 end of the spectrum (yellows and greens) which are not the spectra corals use. Corals and most marine life forms use 10k to 20k spectra (blue and purple). So yes, you could buy them and they would be excellent ballasts, but you'd need to buy replacement bulbs for them before they could support corals :)
