Lighting...

Hi there....

I live in Canada as my sig says ...Now i just bought 2 new lights the other day...1 was a aquaglow and a Powerglow...Now the total for the both was close to $100.00 ....Now i was wondering if HomeDepot or a store like that sold bulbs that i can use instead of these....And what should i be looking for?
I'm sure that i can find the same "type" of bulb for cheaper...

I use a shoplight with a "Sunshine" bulb (6500K) and a "Plants & Aquarium" bulb (not labelled... red tinge). Total cost of shoplight and bulbs... $18.

I doubt it's the ultimate solution... but it's the $18 solution, and that's what I like.

Lots of people like bulbs in the 5700-6500K range.

But, personally, I'm a big fan of GE "Aqua Rays (full spectrum)" bulbs. I'm not sure if they're available in Canada -- when I can find them here in the US, they're usually about 10-15 USD per bulb.

I got them at Walmart... don't know if they have those in Canada. I'm sure Home Depot would have the same (maybe a little more expensive).

$100 for 2 bulbs? That's crazy. I live in Canada, and I bought a powerglo about a week ago and I paid $15 at Petsmart..

If you have T12 bulbs it should be pretty easy to find replacement bulbs at home depot. If you have T8 bulbs, very difficult to locate anything appropriate at home depot, which i find ~really~ irritating as i'm staring at their board listing all the reasons you should use T8 bulbs but they hardly carry any! Arrgh!

Walmart? They don't haev much of a selection. I'd suggest going to a lfs and asking the associates there and looking at their lights. $100 is way too much.

Yep they charged me 56.53 for a powerglow/ and the aquaglow was 45.12 (with tax) and i bought some tetra aquasafe and the total was over 100 bucks...son of a #$%&@....welll im takin em back as we speak ..... Im gettin me some home depot bulbs....serves me right goin to a Ifs for somin like that....
