You seem to be in roughly the same boat as me right now, see the threads under "blue green mess" and "KN03 supply in uk".
The only difference is that my problem is blue green algae not green water.
The major cause, I think is the sharp increase lately, in tapwater phosphate levels. According to my water authority these have gone up to around 3mg/l (not good). I've tried regular water changes but this doesn't help and the Rowaphos obviously has to work a lot harder and if you think about it it's not suprising, as you are effectively reducing nitrate levels and increasing phosphate levels every time.
It seems to me that there is no quick fix for this so I've decided to keep water changes to a minimum and and try to build up the nitrate levels with potassium nitrate, whilst keeping on top of the algae by netting as much as possible. It's quite frustrating, but apart from a complete re-setup it seems the only answer.
My next investment,(as soon as my wallet will allow), will be an RO filter which should negate the phosphate problem at least.
Please let me know if you have any success and I'll try to do the same.
By the way my setup is listed on my profile
