So i need to get a new light for my plants....and i was thinking about getting an LED light, will those help my plants and help them grow?

If you get the high output version then it will be far better... The cheapo ones won't be much kop.

However, even cheap LED's are great for lighting the tank on a very, very cheap package, electricity bill and all. I have this: http://www.amazon.com/Marineland-LED-Aquarium-Light-11-Inch/dp/B004HSYGFQ/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1319426901&sr=1-2-fkmr1 and it lights up my 30 gallon tank great! It's only 2.5 watts total, but is a very nice light. The build is a little cheap, but it is $40. There's also a night mode. Paired with the fluorescent, you can have the tank lit up at night with the LED's, before you go to bed, so you only have your powerful, plant growing lighting on for 6-8 hours, but you can see your fish all times of the day and evening. I do this so algae doesn't start growing with the excess light, and other problems with having too much light.
