i have a 350 juwell trigon corner tank i was hoping someone could advise me on upgrading the lighting. at the moment i have 2 x 30w t8 s and 2 x 15w t8 s. can i change to t6s i do not much about t6s but have geard them mentioned once or twice. do they fit the trigon 36" lamps and what are there wattage also if anyone can point me in the direction of any decent websites what sell them.

i know its a lot of questions but i really want to get my tank all planted up soon

cheers in advance :good:

T6's don't fit as standard, but you can get brushing sets so they will fit :good: .

See here.

But realistically, if you want a really noticeable upgrade of lighting, add a t5 power compact or two to the back of the tank, I did that with my trigon 190 :good: .

If you ask me, Halide lighting is deal for corner tanks. Kind of a bear with heat, but much easier to use and deal with the odd dimension

I agree with Three-fingers. WE removed the bulbs from the light unit on our 190 and added t5's to front and back hatch/lid with cold cathodes in between for moonlight. You should be able to do the same with the 350.

how do the t5s fit

If I remember correctly, my husband drilled holes where required on the front and back sections of the hood (running parallel to the original lighting), and attached the clips that come with the t5 lights. We had to remove the original bubs otherwise the t5's wouldn't fit. You may find you have enough room with the 350 that you don't have to remove the oringinal lights. The cable for the front light has to run under the centre (original light brace) or cut a small hole in the front flap for the cable.
i don't know if that's of any help or not. If you like I can try and get the other half to take some photos for you.

Without wanting to hijack this post, I am soon going to be doing the same thing, any photos would be great. Do you get any heat issues?

Thanks, Mike

Tank temp stays at 26C, drops maybe a degree at night. Admittedly the external filter pipes hold the back lid up slightly so that probably releases heat(I didn't want o cut the hood)

I'll get the other half to take some photos today and try to post tonight.

I just added a 36w to the back panel, doubling the wattage of original lighting in my tank. I think I could probably fit another one the same size in there too, defiantly a smaller one :good: .

Just so you know you don't neccesarily need to remove the original lighting :).

Here we go, took 5 mins to do and its more than doubled the lighting in my tank :good: .

How did you fit that three fingers? I had exactly the same fitting on one of my juwel tanks. Tried to silicone it on, NIGHTMARE! Is yours drilled??

Yep, I just marked where I wanted the holes to be with a pencil and drilled, took literally minutes :good: .

Trying to silicone it on doesn't sound like fun!

Thanks for pic, does the heat those things give out effect the black hood flaps at all?
