lighting for 20H

Silly me said:
on a 20 long I would install 2x15w lights for no CO2 and with CO2 I would add as much as 4x15w lights
ok. my fixture takes 24" bulbs which are 20w around here. So if I get something to use two tubes in it will be 40 watts. I guess that should be ok then. The room the tank is in is very very dark-no natural light and very few lamps.

The 20 gallon tanks in Nature Aquarium Would (Book one) have 60-80 watts of light.
I think I don't want that many WPG. I'm happy with low light or mid-low light plants and i don't want to mess with CO2 right now.

btw I love your sig line. That describes my BIL perfectly.

With me 32g tank with 2x20W fluorescent and CO2, do I have enough light?

Will do. I'm planning on using either pure onyx sand or flourite on the bottom layer and onyx sand on top. Is this ok or should I just use all onyx sand?
I think I'll definitely get the two NO fluorescents.
The measurements on the 20 are 2 feet long, 16" high and 1 foot wide. I don't know if this is a 20H, but I know it's not a 20L!
The filter I think I'm going to use is simply a small powerhead with a quick filter with bio-balls in it attached to the powerhead. Will this create too much surface agitation?
Thanks for all your help so far guys!! I really appruciate it. :)
Hi guppygirl,

What is the benefit of putting couple of bio-balls in the quick filter? If the reason is for bio-filtering, will the flow rate be too high for it?

Nikki

Well, I don't know if it's too much flow, it seems to be working! The only problem with it is if I have the powerhead horizontal, the balls get into the impeller and make it harder for the powerhead to work.
I use them for bio-filtering, but I guess another good use is to reduce the amount of flow going through the pump. That would probably reduce surface agitation.

Hi, I also have a 20 H and i just recently ordered a 24" 65 watt compact flourescent with 6700k. Will this be too much lighting? I haven't gotten the light yet, but it has been ordered. I do not wish to fool with co2. Is this too much light?

It's actually alot of light... if you don't want to mess with co2 you'll probably get a huge algae explosion... no matter how many plants you have in there. So I would get co2. But I think your 20H will do well if you do! :)
