I'm Making my own hood for my tank including lighting. I will be using the bayonet type fluro lights as the main lighting and 1 black light in a bayonet fitting and many LED's wired together for night/star lighting. Below is a basic rough out of my design, do you think it will work?

What it is a Large PVC (or similar) tubeing spraypainted with a nice reflective paint. From here I'll mount the Black Light centre streight down, the main light from the forward pointing back slightly and the LED's placed randomly. All three group will have their own of/off units

Comments please

That sounds like a great idea. I like the idea of the LED lights for the the star effect. The only thing I'm not sure about it spray paint because of toxins that could be released into your water from long term water effects...I'm not poistive about this but something to look into(I can't tell if the spraypainted surface touches the water or not). Other then that definitly is going ot look great just be carefull of the wiring too wouldnt want to fry any fish.

It was going to above the tank in a wooden hood so the paint shouldn't be an issue but I will reconsider it with somting else. Also I'm gonna make sure the wiring is well and truly Ok, more for my kids sake (3 under 6) than the fishies but for them and me as well
