Hi. I have posted this in planted section also, but have gotten no real answere to the problems. I figured it was worth a try posting here. I been searching and searching and getting nowhere.
#1--- I have a Odyssea B15 tank. The light is built into an attached hood. I got it second hand so I have no info on it. There is no info on the tank its self either. I don't know if the light is origional or a kit, and don't know what the max wattage is. All I know is what is in it now, and I need a different bulb. I am planting in fresh water, and I keep getting green water. I think the light may be part of the problem. It is for saltwater, I was told.
Here are the pics. I think I got everything.

I can't find any info on this tank or the lighting. I also can only find one other light (10,000 K) that is the same size as what is in it. Is that really my only choice for lighting without getting a new kit? I am no good at that kind of thing. Is there anything else I can get in the US without having to do electrical work? If so what is it and where can I get it?
Please help! Thanks! :good:

Ok, it say's you have a 50/50 bulb, which seems to do well in salt water aquariums. To replace it, you need to know the size of the light if possible. So then you can get one to fit. I would suggest looking http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl36...wercompactlamps for bulbs. You are looking for the lighting that is 6700k color. And also straight pin. Once you know the size you can browse around looking for that. Wattage for the tank will depend if you want to add CO2, which is suggested with higher wattage to get rid of algae in some cases.

http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl36...o2naturalsystem, should work, might need 2 to get a good amount of co2 though.

Sorry for going off-topic. Goodluck on the light :).

What is in there now is 13 inch 24 watt. Big Al's don't have that size. Can I go with higher watt on that fixture as long as it isn't too long? I think it will fit up to 15 inches. Do they make one that size?
Where can I check? I am really having a tough time finding a bulb.
Thanks!

Does that co2 thing include everything I would need, or would I need some other stuff? If so, What else would I need to get?
Thanks!

Is there not anyone that knows where I can get a decent light for this tank in the states? I am getting desperate. I can't find one anywhere. I really need help finding a light.
Thanks :good:

Hi Iceegrl,
I would suggest sticking with the same wattage if I was you, as you will start causing youself problems if you use tubes which have a higher wattage (and therefore current draw) than the ballast/starter in the hood can handle (it will shorten their life, and you may have problems starting the tubes)

Had your tank been a regular (not round) tank, i would have suggested an Arcadia I-bar (Arcadia I-bar), however I don't know if one of these will be suitable for you.

I have also heard mixed things about the cheap CO2 infusors - some people get on really well with them, however others suggest spending more on a CO2 cartridge system.

Sorry it wasn't more help

I finally found a JBJ daylight bulb that is the right size. It didn't give the K rating, but it did say that it is for plants. I hope it is the right kind, because I ordered it. I guess we will see.
Any one know anything about the JBJ daylight 24watt 13 inch streight pin lamps?
Thanks :good:
