ok,

im slowly starting to get parts to build new tank, its going to be a normal 2 metre glass tank, either

double fixture 54 watt T5 pendant or a quad unit 54 watt pendant or 80 watt double pendant or

150 watt metal halide fixture?

if i run a pendant over the tank that clips on at both sides wont the fish jump out ??

if i go with the quad or double fixture units what spectrums will be needed for a reef ?

thanks

I am not really sure what you mean, but in case you are asking what I am thinking you are, then no, I don't think that having your light system sitting directly on top of the tank or hanging above it would neither increase or decrease the odds of a fish jumping out of your tank. In fact, I have both of my light systems more or less sitting on top of my tank with little room to spare, but I have had a few fish commit suicide by jumping out.

In fact, depending on how you look at it, keeping the lights a little bit higher than the tank could be a great thing since it would help afford you a greater ability of using fans to blow away some of the heat generated by the lights; if need be.

While I guess I could be wrong in at least a couple ways, I have always used 10,000k (or very close to it) bulbs over my reef with success. However, this may not be the very best situation and if not, then I am sure someone will come along to set us both straight.
