Hey

We have two orange fish (I can't remember the type) and one is pretty lifeless at the bottom of the tank. I thought he way dead so went to get him out and he moved and started swimming. But is again on the bottom of the tank. I had a water test and all come back perfect. What could be wrong?

What are the actual numbers from your tests?

How big is the tank? Is it cycled? Can you get a picture of the sick fish?

In any emergency, your first course of action should be a water change; change at least 50%, making sure your new water is temperature matched and dechlorinated.

Hey

I'll try to dig out the numbers. Its a 60l tank. The fish in question has no visible sign of illness

Some of my fish do this rather often but they normally perk up after I do a waterchange. Don't make the mistake that I did several times and think that they won't get better, mine always do.

is this the fish you have?

if it is this is a von rio tetra and they need schools of 6 to feel comfortable. I only suggest that its this kind of fish cause before I learned the name that's what I called and orange fish

Had it setup for well over a year. I took the sample to my local fish store

If you could tell us more about your tank, how you've set it up (did you cycle your tank: build up the beneficial bacteria in the filter) and your maintenance routine, we might be better able to tell you what is going on with your fish!

Did you have those two fish from the beginning, or are they new additions? Did you add anything new recently? Did your filter media at some time have been left to dry out (power outage, forgotten to turn it back on), did you change the filter media recently, could you have forgotten to add dechlorinator during a water change? Had you had any deaths recently in that tank? Could a toxin have gotten into the tank, maybe  a cleaning product?

Just throwing out some ideas of what could be wrong....

Hey

I netted him off and he died over night.

I cleaned the filter out two weeks ago but used tank water.
