I have been fishless cycling for 2 weeks, adding some fishfood flakes every day as instucted by my LFS when I bought the tank. On Saturday they tested my water and told me that the tank had cycled and was rady for fish but I'm not convinced. The results are as follows:
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
pH-7.6

Surely if the tank had successfully cycled you would expect some Nitrate to be present?

Anyone any thoughts???? :dunno:

Well, depends really... have you been changing water? You could have diluted the nitrates right out...

Get your own test kits and check for yourself, or get a small shoal of hardy fish and see how they do for a week.

I haven't changed any of the water as yet. I did purchase some 5 in 1 tetra sticks and verified the results. (why do these sticks not test for ammonia???)

I now have had 6 Mollies in there since Saturday and so far they seem happy enough. I am going to buy an ammonia test today to check the water.
