I have been reminded of a valuable lesson today,The more trips you make to your local lfs the better to make an informed opinion.

I visited an lfs today which Ive been to a few times before.on previous visits all seemed ok.Today however they had aros in a tank far too small and a red tailed cat that was in a tank it couldnt turn round in comfortably.

one women asked for a birchir and the girl serving her had no idea what fish it was and the women had to tell her and also tell her how much it cost.

there were bala sharks that had obviously been quite badly nipped and a large leiarius about 12 inches long that was also badly nipped and obviously not happy.fish with what appeared to be ulcers still for sale.

I complained of course but to no avail all I got was we will sort it.

thanks for reading my rant!

Been to same kinda LFS too Helen.....they used to have a shop a few streets from us and moved...it was awful...really manky tanks etc, dead fish floating. Just by chance jay poped in to have a look at a new Lfs he was driving past and it was same owners.....they had a TSN and an Oxydoras Niger in tiny tanks where they had to lie diagonally in them and couldnt move. Thats how we came to buying both. Niger having spikes they tried bagging him which is unbelievable and tried the same with TSN. Tsn was in a shocking state when we got him home, he soon recovered and turned out a fantastic catfish. Sadly he is dead now but the Niger is doing marvelous. :hey:
