ok well now to a story il never forget. hope this isnt agenst the rules but im going to say a bad thing about a fish store called "seaworks".

this is taken from a convo with Bettamomma on YIM so sorry if it looks werid:
igot2breathe: i went to the local fish store called "sea works"
igot2breathe: its downtown. usually very nice and nice bettas. not this time
igot2breathe: what happened i went in
igot2breathe: they had the bettas in cups they were alright mostly combtails and they were healthy,there was a little 2.5 gallon behind them w/ a cute little red veil he was perfect/super red no other colors he had the whole tank to himself it had live plants a good filter etc that part was the only nice part
igot2breathe: then i moved to the comunity tanks ,first one had this crazy red male in it,i relized he was being chased by (get this) another male! igot2breathe: i dont know where the red male went but i told a lady who moved him to another tank,yeah same tank
igot2breathe: so she moved the mean one
igot2breathe: we moved on
igot2breathe: there was a tank w/ like 20 some gouramis and then there is this red betta who had really shreaded fins chasing the gouramis and flaring
igot2breathe: i was pissed then igot2breathe: i looked up i saw a male in a tank of platys and tetras he was hidding in this tube on the wall . igot2breathe: then i looked over at another tank to the right and this is a real pee'r offer . i saw a tank full of female bettas there was one dead lying in the rocks and then i looked a little at the bettas and there was a male w/ all of the females!!! then i was like "MOM THERE IS A MALE IN THERE!" she told the guy and he said "oh thats alright he wont hurt them" ,my mom pretended to agree and said "whatever" igot2breathe: then we went back to the tank w/ the male who was w/ the other male becuase my mom wanted to look at the angel fish below,THE MEAN MALE WAS W/ ANOTHER MALE!!! igot2breathe: the poor fish was scared as could be so i got a net and a empty cup and grabed the scared guy and put him in the front.

my lfs is just as bad, alot of them are. i can understand dead fish and disease, that comes along with the package, what do u expect from fish who have spent a good bit of their lives packed up in shipping, but there is absolutely no excuse for bettas to be treated that way. the owners know how aggressive those fish are! iv asked for lfs's to improve the conditions of their bettas around here, even recommended cups in this case as they are much better in cups than gourami tanks, but they will do nothing. iv never wanted to pull out a gun and pop somebody so bad in my life, i mean come on, u own a freaking fish store, u should know how to keep fish!!! IDIOTS!

I know what you mean, you'd think if they were successful enough to open their own fishstore, they'd actually be able to take care of their fish. God...its so annoyying. Some people are pathic poo-poo brains.

i should of brought my camara ,but i didnt becuase i didnt think it would be bad it never was bad in the past they usually had really good looking deltas w/ a tank of some sort of silver fish and they were fine in the past they were allways only 2 bettas at a time now he has more and he cant handle it. i may go back and get this really small female she was a teenie tiny thing scared of the male she had ripped up fins but w/ frequent water changes that usually goes away,she was in the tank w/ the male in it and she was scared covered in bars she was barely colorful and she had purplish fins.they also had discus and they had A huge tank w/ like 6 discus in it they were breathin funny i wouldent buy one.most of there stuff was sick and they sold those evil betta tanks that are the size of a cup.

Just for the record - I called this place - they tried to blow me off, I said I wanted to speak to the "manager" so the kid who answered the phone says "Mom, phone" and she says "I said take a message!" and he said "No, she wants to talk to you right now" so she gets on the phone - I tell her that I was told they had male bettas being kept with other male bettas, males kept with females, etc.
She was very rude, bitchy and yelled, then hung up.
Usually people that know they're wrong get extremely defensive and don't want to face the facts. Every time I've ever called Walmart, PetSmart, etc. no one has ever hung up on me. The only other time I've been hung up on was by Puppy Palace when we had the whole bettas in a candle bowl incident.
