After seeing the pic that Carole sent me of her sailfin, i decided to do some research.

A couple of years back i bought a "clown pleco" and i ADORED him. He would come to the surface to nick the cichlid sticks we fed the angel fish, and he was a good 8-10". I had to rehome him as we dismantled the tank.

I still miss him to this day.

My rant being this, i was told (and wanted another) "clown pleco", and upon researching, a clown pleco is this:

these grow to be 4" - not a bad size if you want restricted sized plecos,

I had:

a sailfin!!!!!

and i am annoyed that LFS can pass these HUMONGOUS plecos as the smaller clown....

After owning a sailflin, I'd have one again in a shot, but i dont have the room for one :(

Its sad when you have to rehome fish cause you just get so attached some are like puppies mooching in the tank when hungry. and i think you must be certified to sell fishas a profession cause so many know nothing and fish end up with people who dont know how or cant aford to meet their requirments:sad:. Ive just perchused a true clown pleco so cute very shy hids up side down in pirate ship but you can see his stripy little fin. Buying him some bog wood tomorrow they are amazing litle fish ive never yet regreted buying him un like some fish..... Consider getting own if you cant house a common "giant" they are great. Im getting a large tank and really like to perchise a giant as theys get such good reveiws...But off topic LFS should have all employs test or licensed in some way because they miss inform people so often its a shame..

Yeah I have a clown pleco she is 3" and 2 years old. She never goes near the top. They are shy plecos. Sorry they really screwed you over that time tell you a sale fin was a clown . Some of these shops has NO clue what half they fish they have Are.

There ar so
many kinds of plecos do some reaserch and I'm sure you can find one you will love and will work for your tank.

oh i didnt mind being sold him, i adored him (i dont have him any more was a couple of years ago)- it just disgusts me that such a big fish can be sold as a much smaller variety.
