Nice fish  Looks a bit like the 'freshwater dolphin' on an earlier post here today

he's a baby tiger shovel nose which by alls means isn't small.

expect him to be over 1ft in 2 months and as you probable know will been a 10x4x3 tank min full grown.

I sold mine last week!!

It is most definitely a tiger shovelnose. a beautiful, graceful fish that grows just as big as his appetite. One of my favourite tankbusters.

*sigh*

I sure wish it was anythng other than a tiger.
He went back today.
And the "kids" at the store kept telling me that it was a lima.
I said uhm, no it is definately a tiger.
They said "no, it is a lima, a tiger has a silver stripe on the side. And what are you worried about Ma'am, you have a 230 gallon tank"
Yeah I got a credit note.

AND WILL Never buy anything again unless I know the latin form! :*)
Still think it was kinda cute though :-(

My dream is to have a tank large enough to keep a tiger shovelnose in... they're such amazing fish

I fell into the same trap. They are beautiful fish.

Here is a picture of the one I had for a few weeks. I finally gave up with him after a night where 5 zebra dianos were eaten. Picture taken that morning.

when my guy reached 12" he become an extremely powerful and sometimes nervy fish. with large chunks of wood and glass thats not a good mix. although in the coming weeks of his departure i think he realised he was going and ate 2 geophagus...pig!!

he even started to hand feed in those last weeks aswell, taking 4 lance fish at a time from my hand.
