Lens Cleaning

I knew that all lensmakers coated their lenses. But I had no idea that they all used SMC as the name for that process. Pentax lenses all bear the inscription SMC on them, that's why I thought this name was unique to them.

hoya, b&w and all other makers "used" to have SMC filters in their range.though hoya called it hoya multi coating. canon call theirs "Spectra multi coating". they all do the same job. lol canon claim 99.9% light transmission, with their coatings. Multi coating and the use of ld, low dispersion, and fluorite lens elements, in the seventy's gave even the most impoverished the chance of top quality lenses.

Hoya and Pentax have recently announced a merger into one company. It is supposed to be called the Hoya-Pentax corporation last I heard, they should have come up with something more imaginative than that.
