Hey holokai!
I recommend some easier plants to start, some anubis, amazon swords maybe some crypt as stem plants, the betta will love hiding in these and resting on the leaves and they require less light then alot of types of plants. Some dwarf sag or micro sword would be a good plant to cover the substrate unless you want it showing but these do require more light then amazon swords and anubis. If you get a peice of bogwood in there you could probly attach some Java moss onto it.
Wish you luck,
DL
DL, I like those plants as well. I think my planting plan will be to get the tank all set up (by the end of the week? if my stuff gets here in time) and maybe introduce some plants on Sunday. I seem to recall I don't have to wait for a cycle or anything for plants.
I saw in the planted forum someone suggested FIFTY plants to start out, to keep algae under control. I'm hoping that they were talking about a 50 gallon Tank I will most likely buy 10-12 plants to start. I've seen Anubias around here, but nothing else that has been mentioned. It may just be common name vs. scientific, so I will look into it.
I don't want much of the Substrate to show, so I'd like to try to get some Java Moss mats going. If I can find some! I know there are some AGA Aquascaping contestants in Honolulu, I'm going to look them up to find where they get their plants.
Thanks,
Chris
I think Kyrielle is right, the effect of the glass being painted might create a mirror effect. It would be a crappy mirror, but good enough to maybe cause the betta to flare constantly. Can't you just paint it on the otherside?
I'm not sure I want to chance it. I will read up on it though.
