Leaking Eheim Pro 3

I am a eheim fan.. As a eheim fan I have a 2262, 2217, and a pro 2329 wet&dry. You can still buy them with 100% parts made and build in Germany.

Now days, eheim company is not owned by eheim family or it's build by eheim workers. They r not even assembled in Germany . Last filters they build is pro 2 range.

good point this one.
Eheim have a good rep, but will it last?
the 2080 took several years before it was reliable. I have to admit i hate the new pro 3 range. but Eheims last forever, so there will be a plentiful supply of quality second hand Eheims, for years to come.

Eheim may have a good rep but their customer Support SUCKS. 2 weeks ago I got an email from them sayiny they would replace the head unit on my 2075 and send it by UPS. To Date NOT A THING! pretty useless really

I'm with you there! they have go down the drain on customer service. but then its not really Eheim any more. just a company who bought the name. but older eheims: classic, pro, pro2, are still as good as they ever were. that's 10 times as good as, most, other brands. and, as i said, work forever.

be vary careful when considering a pro3 (excluding second hand 2080's) they seem to be a problem, even after the "leak fix".

Well the new head arrived today (finally) but only after sending Eheim Customer Service a really snotty email. Assembled the 2075 and all seems OK (fingers crossed).

I have to say that I am seriously thinking of e-baying it now and getting another manufacturers product.

This saddens me greatly as I have kept both tropical and marine aquariums since I turned 16 years of age (38 years) and for all of those years have held the Eheim name in the highest esteem.

I guess we all live and learn.

Cheers

Dave

i bought a new eheim 2217 and have had a few problems, there customer service is a joke , i sent about 5 emails to 3 different addresses before i got a reply ,there filter are normally very good but i don't think i would buy one again.
if you need to lube the seals don't use vasaline you should use food grade silicon grease :)

I bought the Pro 3 2075 brand new in Sept 2012 that came with a 3 year warranty. The filter leaked after 2 years destroying my $350 wooden stand. Water leaked out near the power cord. After searching the net I found out that this was a common issue among Pro 3 filters made before Aug 2010. There have also been countless reports of Eheim's Customer Support department ignoring customer emails when contacted for warranty claims.

I emailed them and immediately the next day I received a reply asking for the Serial number, the shipping address and the retail store from which I bought the filter. I replied with the information and that was the last I heard from them. I have sent them 4 more emails since then and they completely ignored them. I have been another victim of their scam.

Apparently Eheim is engaging in fraudulent acitivities, marketing their filters as "Premium" products that come with a 3 year warranty. However, they will try their best NOT to honor the warranty. Maybe I need to call them everyday and write nasty letters to get them to acknowledge my issue. I know some of their victims have received a replacement head unit this way after sending threatening emails and making repeated phone calls. However, it shouldn't have to be this difficult.

I have another Pro 2 filter that also leaked after 6 years of operation. From what I have heard, the company was bought and the quality of customer service has become horrible since then. It is now reaching the point of fraud.

I will never buy another Eheim product again. Beware!!!

This is freaking me out. I own a 2073, bought from a german company in summer 2010, so I assume I'd better get ready for the worse. I travel a lot, unfortunately, and at the moment I'm about 9000 km away from home.

I have carpet and wooden floor in a century-old house, at first floor, so this could really be critical for me. BRRRR!

Personally SO FAR I've experienced the impossibility of priming the filter once opened for maintenance, which led me to reduce maintenance to virtually zero. It took me two days to restart it, last time I cleaned it. Worth knowing, first, and last, time with Eheim. Pity, their reputation was impeccable.
