It's had them cut to the triangle shape and then they put those things on to train them to stand up instead of flop over.

A whole lotta people! It's common with many breeds of dog. Another I can think of is boxers however I think I saw somewhere recently that the "flop over" ears are becoming popular again with boxers. But they are having to breed the nice floppy ears back in because after many years of breeding their ears kind of lay back now instead of flop over because no one cared what they looked like if they were going to cut them anyway...

<---- not particularly a dog enthusiast just full of loads of useless information.

I'm sorry, anyone who does that to any animal just to alter the way it looks naturally needs a serious slapping.

makes my blood boil :grr:

I am sensing A picket line forming with Akasha as the leader.

I picketed the slaughter of whales by Japanese fisherman...I'll help you make the signs! :good:

i for the past 18 years work closely with many animal rescues, one a boxer rescue, i have never out of the 7-800 boxers that i have seen had nothing but flop over ears, its now a pleasure to see them with tails too, tail and ear docking is against the law in the uk for pet owners

Yep, unless you can argue that they will be a "working" dog, which is easily done if you want to stretch the truth :/

my aunties dog is around 6 years old. She's a springer spaniel. My aunty took her in at just 4 weeks old. She'd had her tailed docked (I went mad and said at the time it was illegal) so short there was very little left. She grew up into a healthy, happy dog thanks to me taking my dog to visit (she mothered her despite being spayed) and my aunties hard work.

Docking (and taking them away from their mothers far too young) still goes on. It's sick and wrong. I find it really hard to see Ellie (Aunties dog) when she's trying to wag a tail that is no longer than an inch - she's trying to wag a stump :(

thats very sad, vets can be heavily fined or struck off if found docking pets

winning :p

I think it was the breeder that did it. I told my aunty not to take the dog as she was too young, had been docked illegally and the breeder promised to post on her documents - needless to say no documents arrived.

Anyway, all has turned out well. She's a lovely dog, I just wish she had a tail to wag

oh yeah, and I'm winning apparently!
