i am thinking about getting 2 or 3 zebra plecos... but not sure.

normaly i dont like to keep plecos and i naver had one. this l46 is somthing diffrent and rare. would add nice colour to the tank.
is it easy to keep one? do they hide or shy? why they r hard to breed?

thanks...

they are very shy...
I had 1 years ago and never saw the poor thing. when I moved I found it while I was draining the tank for the move.
I had put it in the tank 2 years earlier.
As far as ease of care ... well mine lived for 2 years without any special treatment..lol

Aren't these the plecos that cost a small fortune? Post in the Pleco section as I think there is someone there who has a few.

I had one about 10 yrs ago. I love plecs and have kept lots of different types

the l46 isn't one of my favourites to look at anyway. It was as easy as most plecs to keep, good water conditions and food offered just for him. It wasvery shy and for me they are not worth all that money and I am sure with people breeding them that the price could be reduced for them but it seems like petrol we are used to that price for them now

Personally the appearance of them is superb, but for the amount of money a fairly "cheap" one can set you back over £90 at ease reaching up to 250 depending if you think its "wild, adult or both!" but in all honesty its just a rip off.

When 'plecs' such as the l134 peckolita which are superb in colour and how active they are in comparison are easily available at a fraction of the cost, then you have to think about the other options available.

Personally my favourite is the l134 as i said the colours can be very similar, not as solid white but still beautiful!

Best of luck with what ever you get and keep us all informed :good:
