Hi all, I'm trying to get hold of a L260, they are understandably hard to find now but there must be some private breeders around, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonny.

Amwell Aquatics in Epping has some L260 instock for £45  :shout:

EDIT: Wildwoods doesn't have any L260, was there today, don't think they plan on getting them :look:

I thought Wildwoods just got what was in the next shipment.
They aren't as good as they used to be in my opinion.

If Wildwoods did get L260 in stock, I wouldn't be surprised if they were priced at £65 :grr:

I`ve been asking around and browsing the net for the last couple of months (at least) to find a decent priced L260 but it seems an almost impossible task at the mo

If I do manage to find some decent priced ones I`ll tip you the wink ;)

About a year, ago I visited some fish shop (cant remember name) and they had some 2" L260 for £30 each. I'm regretting not buying them :shout: :-(

You`d have made a fair bit breeding them by now if you`d got them ;)

Hmmm. I'd love to give up work and try make a living by breeding and selling the rare Plecs. Now I just have to convince the Mrs.........

Thanks for that, we can't import them through work any more so i presume they've been banned from import due to over fishing, so its going to be a few years before we see them in shops on a regular basis again, thanks for all the replies, so the hunt continues......

At 2 inch there still quite expensive, breeders will be selling them at 1.5 - 1.75 inch for the region of £10-£20 now even with the ban in place.

Unfortunately it really isn't the case, rearing and actually keeping them for 6-12 months completely out weighs any price you would be selling them for. Unfortunately so many people are under the impression that selling plecs makes alot of money. Even breeding and selling zebs doesn't make you money when you take into account how long you need to grow them out for and the amount of viable eggs that are even spawned or fry that are raised (sometimes can be just 2-5 eggs laid). These fish can be very seasonal with breeding and some only produced 1-2 spawns per year if any at all.

As above, not much profit if any unless you are breeding some of the harder much more rarer species and doing it on a huge scale, importing fish is slightly more profitable but again needs to be done on a big level to compensate DOA's and the quarantine process.

They have been on the ban list for quite a while now, they arnt actually hard to get hold of if you know a few plec breeders... there is a seller near me which is currently selling 1.25 inch ones for £10. Obviously at this price they go quick but im sure she has some more growing out. PM me and i will try and find a way for you to contact her ;).

i'll have a look about
up here in the northeast
and see what i can come up with
