never reassuring to hear.

good luck with the breeding
Its ture, most I might take would be a few fry for myself, would even be willing to let the third party have mine.

yes, but you don't say it! :p

if you declare first thing that its "not a get rich quick scheme", then we sit back and think "now why'd he feel compelled to say that?" and then we think some more and we start getting suspicious "well, maybe it sounds a bit like a get rich quick scheme" -_- and then our doubting human nature kicks in and we conclude "haHA! my brilliant mind has deduced that this is a get rich quick scheme! iamsoverycleveryesiam" :alien: and we do all this without any further evidence one way or the other

which is why you wait until you've got the conversation started before you explain "no, no, no. you can't get rich quick from breeding zebra plecos. for starters, it takes a large colony of conditioned adults (2+ years old) in a really big tank. and even if you can convince them to breed, only about 12-15 fry are produced in even the largest clutches. then you have to raise up all those fry to a sellable size..." and so forth. see? you have to wait and use evidence for the phrase "not a get rich quick scheme" to sound believable.

I think he was absolutely right to say it's not a "get rich quick thing" - because so many people only see $$$ signs when they hear "Zebra Plecs". They don't realise what it takes to "perhaps" one day get them spawning and then sell the youngsters into further breeding groups.

If you read on Zebrapleco.com you can clearly see it's not a get rich quick scheme.

But honestly - anyone with a zebra plec or colony will already know this.

point taken. :) its still good general advice tho'

was i not light-hearted enough? :-( (that was actually a really fun post to write; can you tell that i like editing papers? :nerd: )

 I catch your drift - yup I thought you were ultra serious ;)

Ok you did sound a bit serious, but you cant tell expressions when you read things.

Na I'm serious.

I feel guilty for only buying one. and now things are in a bad way. I hate when you go into a shop and they ask silly prices, gettign the numbers up is the only way to get prices down. Plus How many fish keepers only ever bought one of these fish. You cant breed with one. If you bought two there prob from the same batch so you cant really breed them. This is the only solution.

I've got one who else has one and so forth. :dunno:
