i have a kulhi loach, that i got recently. he's an all black one, so he'es not supposed to have any color variations. or not very big ones. however, im noticing some weird white spots on him. theyre not ich, because theyre almost like pigment discolorations, but i have no clue what they are. any idea?

Not sure what it would be if not ich though Khulis should be kept in groups of no less than three so my guess is it's stress related.

khuli loaches can loose colour easily, mostly due to stress. Khulis also need to be in groups of atleast 3 with fine substrate that wont injure they're sensitive barbels. They are shy, require plenty of places to hide and feel more secure in groups of their own kind. I own 7 and they're too adorable. ;) Also make sure you dont have any active bottom dwellers with them as they will most likely be a big competition for the khulis food and the khulis will most likely lose it. Even cories were too much competition for the khulis.

Get him some friends and make sure that there are plenty of hiding places. Otherwise it may die. Some kuhli loaches are quite weak at the moment so it could jsut be that although the black ones tend to be stronger I think.

he had three other friends, but they all died for some reason or another. and he seems to be happy enough by himself, oddly. he hangs out around the bottoms of plants and doesnt act un-kuhli-like or anything. maybe its just some werid thing. thanks!
