The only issue you will have with Rams and Guppys is the water difference,Rams like it very soft and dont seem to last 2 minutes in anything above discus soft water and high temperatures,Guppys however like hardwater, guppys will do ok in neutral,Rams wont long term,if you soften it,the Guppys will drop like flys.

although Rams are softwater pH of 6.0-6.5

people keep them in pH of 6.5+ highest; it means they wont show their full color =/

But very true what Glenbo said! i think you might have to take a look at what fish you want and build around it rather than harm all the others :good:

Peat moss is supposed to work, I would like to get some for my tank and put it in the back of my filterr, but when I go to a hardware store or something, I see it in the bags that people buy potting soil in. I want to get some for my tank as I have a ram and tetras.

Reply quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....It's kind of urgent :)

click my baby dragons!!! just one more click

I'm trying to decide on which fish I should get, Rams or Kribs? My tank is a 20 gallon and is stocked with 4 cories and 3 guppies which is a total of 15.5 inches out of a max of 24. How many caves would I need? Would I need one for the male and female?

EDIT: I decided that I'll only be able to get a male from one of the species because my guppy gave birth and I want to keep at least one or two.
P.S. click my dragon "fry" :)

Rams all the way!

With your Ph, kribs are the better choice. BUT, kribs don't get on well with corries ( in MY experience). Also, you probably shouldnt be keeping corries with that high of a Ph. I have, and they didnt last long. They prefer a ph below 7.0, also, lowering your Ph can be a pain in the but. Bolivian rams are less pretty, and do require a lower ph. As far as keeping your guppy fry alive. Good luck with that, the rams and kribs will eat the fry.

If you'd get rid oif the corries, I vote KRIBS. Also, they are African Cichlids, not New World Cichlids( just sayin).
