The babies from my Kribs last batch are probably a little over 1/2 inch long now and are still in the same tank as the parents are. The male and female are still very protective over their fry.

Both the male and female have been showing spawning signs for the last couple weeks now, but have failed to spawn. I was wondering if they has to do with the babies being present in the tank from thier last batch? Would it be a good idea now to move the babies to a new tank? I am still unsure as it has been nearly 5 weeks that the parents and babies have been together and the parents are still very protective over the fry.

Also, as I think this may be the issue as to why they are not spawning, is because I had to move the tank with the babies and parents from my dorm room to my hosue about 2 weeks ago. Would moving the fish like this pros pone their regular spawning behavior/routine?

Before the move, my Kribs laid a batch of fry about every 3 weeks.

Thanks guys!

I would move the fry to another tank ASAP. The kribs will breed again. It just takes time. In the wild, the fry should be wandering off by now. The parents will kill the fry once they breed again.

Okay thanks a lot! By the way...this is FHM.

Yeah, the fry are swimming all around the tank by themselfs...they are not in packs anymore, however they do still "pack" up by the parents a bit.

The male Krib also attacks my net or siphon whenever I put it into the tank. Is this because he is protecting the fry or is it because he is a
breeding pair with the female?

Thanks!

Your welcome. The male is protecting the fry.
Thanks again for your reply!

So, if he is protecting the fry, is it a bad idea to separate the fry from the parents? Or would it not matter anymore?

Like I said early the fry are about 5 weeks old, and I can clearly see all their fins, so they are a pretty decent size.

The kribs will live. They may spend a day searching the tank for the fry, but after that, they will breed again. The fry are the reason the kirbs haven't bred again. But they will only delay their spawn for so long.

Okay great to know, Kribensis12!

I thought that *may* have been the reason why the female was acting like she was a little stressed out. Her color would fade a bit when she was swimming around the tank, but when she ever saw the male she would perk right back up. The fry must have been stressing her out a bit, to the point where it was delaying her spawning.

Thanks again, Krib!

Thought I would share some pictures:

And then some shots of my room with my tanks.
55 gallon with Cichlids on the right.
10 gallon tank on the left (Krib parent tank)
10 gallon between the two tanks (fry tank awaiting new hood which should arrive early next week)
