i have a 91X31x38 tank which holds about 22 gallons. i have 2 kribs in there and i wanted to get 2 rams aswell. however, i'm thinking that this would not be a good idea as i don't think the kribs will want to share their 'teritory'. so, should i just stick with the kribs, and would it be ok to add 2 more kribs in to make 4? (btw the 2 i have at the moment are not a breeding pair)
thanks alot guys

Sorry to bring the bad news but no, 22g is just a little too small for both to co-exist well. Ive got 3 rams in my tank (1m, 2f) and depending on the time of the month, 1 of the females gets chased alot.

No dont do it, they will not mix well and I suspect the kribs would kill the rams.

I don't know anything about rams but if you have a male and female krib in the tank the male would probably kill any male you bring in and would probably pair up with one female then kill the other.
Kribs are very territorial and the tank is too small for 2 pairs.

I tried to house kribs and rams in my 55 gallon tank earlier this year and the kribs took the whole bottom of the thank as their territory. In turn the rams were forced to stay on the top of the tank all day and were stressed out of their mind. So, I would definitely vote no.

thanks alot guys, i thought it would be a no. wow, i can't believe the kribs weren't willing to share a 55 gallon tank, selfish little buggers. i think i am just going to have 2 kribs and some tetras after this advice. the female krib hates the smaller male krib so i'm gonna try and exchange the male at the shop i brought him from for the biggest male they've got. my female is a lovely looking fsh, but she's viscious as hell!!

many thanks from kim

ask in the african cichlid area but from what I know the male needs to be bigger than the female.
If I can get a pic of my pair I will show you the difference in them.
Mine breed really easy but the male after a couple of weeks of fry swimming the male will beat up the female till she has more babies ( which is why i have another tank I can put him in)
My spare tank just now has the last lot of fry in it cause I wanted to move him into my new bigggggggg tank.
mine have always got on well with plattys guppys and neons which all use middle to top of tank.
I keep thinking about getting a loach but dont think the kirbs will like that so dont lol

Hi I have four of each in my tank and never no real bother at first there was bickering but nothing real serious and my rams bossed the kribs and are smaller and now they get on fine but reading the thread I think ive been damn lucky :yahoo:
