Hi, i think i have a pair of kribs, just certain activities that the fish in question does makes me think it may be female.

Could anyone confirm that the fish is infact male.

As i watch the pair they have no aggression towards one an other, i have a coconut cave i have made, upturned plant pot, a large shell they can swim in. yet they choose to make there own cave under the bog-wood by moving the gravel.

wooo i have baby kribs, didnt take very long.

Is it ok to take the fry away from parents straight away?

Yes, It might be preferred. Just make sure you keep the nitrates in the fry tank under 20ppm and feed them no less than 3x per day

My male krib has a tendency to eat the fry lol.

In most cases, Kribensis are very good parents. You may find out that sometimes it is not that way. It could be that they are inexperienced, or that they just like to eat their babies for the fun of it. In a normal situation, they are tolerant of their own fry until they are prepared to raise another brood. When signs of that appear, such as a very plump female, disinterested parents, an ovipositor tube appearing, it is a good time to remove the fry as they can and will perceive the first batch of fry as a danger to the newest batch and they will eat them. Because of this, most people opt to remove the fry before this becomes an issue. Also, it has been suggested that the fry do better with the parents than without.

Just out of interest how long was it from getting the krib to them having fry?
was they a proven pair?
sorry for the Questions but I have just got my 1st kribs and so excited lol

It can take anywhere from 1month to an indefinite amount of time for the kribs to spawn. It all depends on how you setup their tank and how often you mess with decor and frequency of feeding/cleaning.

Thanks for your reply
that's is about what I thought we have only had them for 2 days so still hiding the tank has got 3 cave's and some boggwood so lots of place's to spawn also lots of plants going to fed twice daily small amounts and do a weekly water change putting back in water that's cooler than the tank
was told at the lps that they will hid a few days until settled I am expecting it to be a week or so, there is only 4 kibs (2 albino and 2 red )in the tank was thinking of adding some larger tetras but don't think we will now

My kribs have just spawned and ive had them approaching three weeks!! Trust me to get randy kribs as ironically, i didnt reslly want them to spawn, justcwanted them to get along. Would seem they getting along fine!!! Lol.
