Hi guys i recently bought a male kribensis for my female ( tank is 450 juwel vision with alot of plants and coconut caves) , now i ordered this fish and it didnt look great at all at the shop but i thought ill still take him home and see if i can kind of revive him, my female beat him up for the 1st 3 days then they've become friends, well i say friends they arn't a couple yet but she doesnt attack him or anything like that anymore, its been a week and to be honest he is pretty ugly he doesnt even look like a kribensis, he doesnt have a nice long dorsal fin which males should have..he is completely grey with a faint black strip along his body which kribensis do have ...all his fins have no colour no spots on the fins just nothing, what should i do ? hes been feeding like crazy on bloodworm and flakes i feed my fish 3 times a day but hes not colouring up, my female is stunning ill try to get a picture of her aswell as my male

He may be stressed from the female picking on him, he may just need some time to just settle in

Oww yeah no couler at all compared to mine

Not the best pic of him but his hiding place is at the back of the tank

oh man hes pretty !! ....what can i do to make him colour up i've been feeding him loads of frozen foods which he loves but just isn't getting any colour

What other fish have you got in their with him?

13 tiger barbs, 3 clown loaches a couple platies and some cherry barbs ...and a plec

The clown loach are probably to big for your tank once they grow they need about 6ft long and need to around 6 of them, you could get another 2 more female an 2 more male kerbensis an let them pair of then take the others back to the shop

I really don't know much about these - but there are several species that are very similar to kribensis, so you might have one of those. Certainly doesn't look like a traditional krib to me.

I was wondering the same thing if hes a completely different species lol, i ordered him from my LFS and said a male kribensis so i mean i must have a kribensis but what kind of kribensis...the female chased him for the 1st 3 days so she must know hes a krib...just hope he colours up in the next few weeks otherwise i'll be asking my LFS what the hell they gave me :) lol

gopro that male has the lips of a moliwe :(

Re-arrange the tank and if the agression continues remove the older krib so the new guy can make a territory. Add the female back to the male in a few days. If that doesn't help add more wood.

Compare that to mine http://i.imgur.com/nbtrW.jpg (Chris Brown and Rihanna)
They are spawning now as I type. If you are in the US I could try and save one for you, no guarantees as they ate the last spawn. :(

Be careful as they may hybridize

I ave a young pair of "Moliwe" and they are very nice, even when not fully coloured up. Chances are the female has stressed him out and he is just settling. This is my young pair of "Moliwe"
