Advice please,

Male krib, who until very recently has been very health having fathered his 5th brood. Two days ago he started sitting in the corner of the tank by himself, ignoring the female too (really not like him :hey: ) with his fins and tail clamped. He is a little bit paler in colour than usual, but no other obvious signs of distress. Still eating ok, gorged himself on bloodworms as per usual last night along with the rest of the fish.

Water changed about 25% today. 50g tank. No other fish appear to be affected.
No new fish added recently, tank has been quite stable now for some time.

Sorry, :dunno: little to go on :/ , but I really dont want to lose him. Any theories or advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Clamped fins and being pale if definately a sign of stress, can you post water stats to rule this out first in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Not the writer of this information below.
Clamped Fins- The most common reason a fish will show signs of clamped fins is when the water quality is poor. Especially if the pH has crashed! Parasites can also cause this. If your water checks out fine you might consider treating with Fluke tabs. Check for ammonia, pH, and nitrites.

:)

Two quarter tank water changes over the last three days appear to have cured whatever was bugging the male krib.
Very strange behaviour displayed by the krib before the second water change though. Normally he gives my two clown plecs are hard time, however this time he approached one plec, went very pale in colour and started rubbing himself against the plec. It looked like a strange mating ritual! Had to get my partner to confirm what I was seeing because I did not believe it! Maybe need to cut down on the whisky I add to the tank...................................................LOL.
Thanks for the help anyway.

Well you need to tell us your ammonia, nitrate and nitrite stats just to make sure they are all good and have no issues, is the fish itching and scratching itself on objects at all? Does his skin appear slimey/cloudy or irretated in any way? How long have you had him and the tank?

I agree with tokis, with him rubbing on the fish it could be a sign of a parasite.
