i currently have 2 female kribs and i'm toying with the idea of adding a male.are they really as vicious as i've heard when breeding?i find it hard to believe that a fish that small and that cute could be such little terrors.although i did see them play tug of war with a decent sized ghost shrimp once.

somebody has to have some expierience with this.for the sake of my other fish this is not experiment i want to try with out some advice.

Okay, adding 1 male to a group of 2 females is a NO NO. Dont do it, dont even try, it will result in disaster. I've seen my pair of kribs kill a extra female in under 5 minutes ( didnt have any experience at the time). What size tank and whats in it?

I have a pair of kribs in a 29 with lots of plants. They have a cave to spawn in and do so regularly. The only other tankmates are three zebra danios and 6 neon tetras. The kribs get pretty aggressive when they're spawning. If a fish is a little (and I do mean a little) too slow the kribs will easily kill it. That's why I only have three danios left. They've been culled out over about a year down from eight.

The tetras are fast enough to keep out of the kribs' way. I also started out with three kribs that ended in disaster. One of them was stressed and attacked to death. $9 down the toilet (ba-dum KISH!) and feeling a little bad about my poor choice later and I'll never do it again.

I Had 2 kirbs, male and female. All you need to do is provide some sort of cave and breeding will happens within days.. (for me anyway) It is advised when they are breeding, have smaller fish such as neons, shoals of fish, because they will usally stay around the top half of the tank and the kribs will keep to there bottom half. 99.9 Kribs wont kill smaller fish because they so fast to catch.
But one bit of advise, DONT add a male if your in a smaller tank....and have no where for the babys!

reading what you guys have said already tells me don't do it.i'm very fond of both my girls and i don't think i could bear getting rid of one let alone watch one of them get brutally murdered.as for the size tank their in it's a 60 gal and there are places for them to have them safely and their tankmates are 2 clown loaches,a pair of sword tails,2 blue loaches,a dwarf gourami,a turquoise gourami, and a senegal bichir.so basically my kribs are the only territorial fish in that tank.
