Hi, I recently bought two 2" kissing gouramis, they are behaving fine - eating, kissing, sleeping, swimming, etc. but both of them have brown spots which appear "under" the skin surface. From a distance, the fish look nice and pink but close up the brown spots are just unsightly! They are approx 3mm in diameter, and each fish has about 10 of them, irregularly placed over their body.

Are these just normal markings on this type of fish? All pictures on the internet of these fish make them appear perfectly pink with no other marks.

Any advice? Pictures?

Galen.

my 6 inch kisser has recently got them aswell, i asked my mate to check them out and he said they arent anything to worry about, he said maybe they are just like moles which we get on our skin, the only thing is they tend to disdsapear lol.

Can you get a picture?

BTW - just so you are aware, kissing is aggressive behaviour and isn't a good sign. If you have 2" kissers that are already fighting, your tank is probably too small for them - particularly seeing as they grow to just under a foot :p

thats a good point you'll find the more dominant one will grow quicker and kill the smaller one pretty quick, i found that out the hard way :(

yeah it's just a colour morp, see them occasionally in the lfs

I am going to try to get a photo, but they move pretty quick and my camera isnt very good.

Do you think its just a colour thing? The brown marks appear almost raised from the skin.
