Kind Of Rescaping

There are lots of products out there for planted tanks, ferts and all. Even liquid CO2. As far as CO2 goes, I go with a quote by Jack Wattley, if your plants need more CO2, add more fish.

Could you give me some names I could maybe look for?

I don't know what brands are available in AU, but personally I prefer the Seachem products or API.

Ohh didn't notice this topic, looking good :good: that piece of wood is... can i have it?
Think alot of people recommend Tropica Plant Nutrition and think there's a "plus" version for nitrate boost? Never used it myself but plan on giving it a bash in the near future.

Im trying out the old sugar and yeast DIY CO2 too at the moment, has helped abit but don't think they do too well for tanks over 25g.

Nooo you can't have it haha. Then I'm going to be woodless!
I've read about the DIY CO2, seems easy enough, might have to try it if adding the ferts doesn't pan out so well.
I'm not sure if we have "Tropica" in Australia, we might do, sounds familiar. Will keep an eye out, thanks! :)

We have API here :) And I think Seachem, that also sounds familiar. I usually stick with API.

The API products are good, I just used Seachem when I had reefs, so when I went back to fresh, I just stuck with it.

Nothing wrong with a rock only scape?
Im currently using colombo flora-grow as a fert although since using it - brown algae, im guessing that's the cause anyway.
Prob dosing too much or something, i'll be honest i've not a clue what im doing with plants really :fun:

I had a loook at some API products today, I found the Liquid CO2, and 'Plant food'. So might give them a crack :)

Sorry to crush your hopes, but I think my fish were looking forward to this particular piece of wood :p

I haven't got a clue either, don't worry!

I most certainly will! Just waiting for this plants to get here  Then the fun can begin!

Okay so after some serious hours of cleaning and rescaping, I'm not happy with my end product.

1. To start off with, I was missing my Crypt Wendtii which I ordered. But thankfully they are posting me some.
2. The wood was a pain in the butt to try and position. And keep it there! But I managed.
3. The left side seems to be okay, I'm semi-happy with it. Once I get the Wendtii, should be filled out a bit more.
4. The right side is an absolute disaster. But I had been at it for a few hours and the fish were getting a bit stressed. So I just chucked em in there and let the fish settle down.

I'll probably stick my hand back in there tomorrow, and try to arrange a bit more. The Hygro Stricta in the middle is looking a little droopy and sad, hopefully he perks up a bit. My Vallis is all tangled, so I'll straighten him out tomorrow also.

Just thought I'd post some pictures now, maybe someone will have an idea on how I can scape the right hand side? It's really irritating me at the moment, and my creative juices just aren't flowing!

The water is a little murky, everything was still settling when I took the pics. The plants look really yellow, but it's just my camera. (Had to use my phone) So I apologise for the very poor quality.

Once again, if anyone has any suggestions on scaping that would be great thank you!

I like it a lot, if your not to keen on the right hand side though, why not use that wood as a center piece maybe?? Then build around it. Personally though i think it looks really nice. :good:

Considering how hard it was to get the piece of wood how it is, I think I might leave it there
I think the plants just need to be rearranged a bit. I left the piece of wood on the right hand side, cos the Kribs go there for breeding.

But at least someone likes it :p

I suppose, i know wood is a pain. The huge pieces i have took ages to get where they are now. Yeah maybe have a play around with the plants and see how it looks then. Very natural looking to me though so id leave well alone :p

I like it a lot also. I think you should leave it as is and let things grow in a bit. Just my opinion though.

Well thanks for the postive feedback :)

I ended up moving some things around. I moved the Hygro Stricta so they're all together in a row at the back on the right hand side. I moved the swords slightly, and the huge green plant on the right - I have no idea what it is called - but I have moved that behind the drift wood - filled that corner out nicely.

I'm thinking I want some more Hair Grass, and maybe some pebbles. Might create a nice little lawn :)I'm still yet to get my Wendtii, so that will go at the base of the drift wood.
