Killifish Gardneri Innidere in a community tank possible.

Had2 female and 3 male in a 20G long with baby Betta splendon. They killed him.

What are their ideal tank mates?

My broad answer is nothing small! I bought 7 of these killis as youngsters just over a year ago, ~3cm each, they were reasonably fine in the community but then I started seeing some of the smaller fish with nipped fins. The Beckford Pencilfish group and a male Hageni Halfbeak recovered in a QT over several weeks, but I then moved them back, by which time the killis (especially the males) had now reached 5-6cm. I came back off a week's holiday to find 3 of the 6 pencilfish dead. :(

The killis were fine with my African Banded Barbs; a "Debauwi catfish" variant; Upside Down synos; a less common Alestes tetra amongst others. Now I would not risk anything smaller than the killis adult size, or anything colourful without a bit of a fiesty nature.

I am selling 2 of the males together. Can they stay together? Read that males attach each other.

I had 4 males in my group (one was a late developer), as they got more mature, they did get more aggressive with each other (one time saw two of them lip-locked flying around the tank). How bad this might get I cannot say, as I rehomed my 7 after the pencilfish incident. A tank with lots of line of sight barriers would probably help, but I suspect that with just two males the weaker one will suffer, I suspect that multiple males works better.
