so, i have just found killfish today, they look like a nice fish but will they be ok in my tank. my tank is 120lt with the following fish:

4 tiger barbs
4 green tiger barbs
1 fm molly
1 plec
1 reed fish
4 black neon tetras
6 harelquins.
2 corys
they look quite fancy and thats what i'm worried about as i know the barbs can be a little nippy? also can any one give any tips on these fish. (fresh, brackish, in pairs, groups or any thing else that might be of use?)

many thanks :good:

i have just started to get into killis myself and what i have read, they are quite shy and do not do well in a community tank unless the fish are very peaceful and wont bother the killis. They wouldnt get enough to eat in your tank i think. It would be better if you set up a species tank.

Depends on which species you are refering to.

Golden Wonder Panchax killies will be fine.

Some Fundulopanchax (either gardneri, or nigerianus) may do ok
- they will almost certainly be sold under the old name of Aphyosemion gardneri, or steel blue killi. These could potentially get a bit too aggressive even, you never know.

Lampeyes may be ok, depending on how dominant the other fish are

Other species may bo ok, depending on planting etc - if you try, watch them at feeding time, and make certain they are eating. Many get intimidated by fast moving barbs etc...

There are some others that will be completely fine, but chances are they won't be in a shop

I wouldn't risk adult GW's with Black neons. due to their predatory nature when adult.
Just a tip......take it or leave it. Fp.gardneri would fit nicely. not too bright light and a tight fitting lid is essential as with all killis.
