Kh Rise With Ei

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a rise in KH when they use EI? Mine has gone from 6 to 9 in two weeks, while my other two tanks have stayed around 4/5? Its exactly the same water and everything? Or could it be due to the eco-complete?

EI shouldn't alter the KH of your tank. I have seen several reports of Eco Complete raising KH. I believe it usually returns to normal after several water changes.

Do your other tanks have Eco Complete in them?

As iggy says - most likely your substrate. I assume you're not adding baking soda or such like?

TBH I didnt think it was the EI, but worth an ask.

No the other tanks dont have eco-complete, just inert gravel.

And no dont add baking soda or anything that the other two tanks dont get. Guess it must be the eco-complete then, hopefully as you say Iggy it'll settle down soon. Just done my weekly water change so will see if that helps.
