Im planning on setting up a29 gal tank with a pair of keyholes and was wondering what some good tank mates might be? I was thinking a school or neon or cardinal tetra?

I had a pair of keyholes in a community tank until recently, i thought they were the most placid of the cichlids until they spawn!!!!!!

They are now in a tank on there tod lol

I would for sure go with a taller bodied tetra. Neons have a way of becoming lunch for a lot of fish. In my experience Keyholes are generally model citizens in a tank, but sometimes a bit shy.

I keep mine with Pristella Tetras and they don't bother each other at all.
They are fairly placid but can become a little territorial when breeding so provide plenty of hiding places.
Neon or Cardinal Tetras will be fine and as Nelly suggested, a small group of Corydoras would look good too.
