hi i have a 20gal tank with 2 kribs, serpae tetras and a small plec. i wanted to get a keyhole cichlid but due to the size of the tank i do not want a pair. is it possible to get just one or do they have to be kept in pairs or groups?
many thanks from kim

Are the kribs a pair? To be honest, I wouldnt add a keyhole with kribs as keyholes are relatively peaceful and would be chased and stressed by the kribs, especially if they spawn.

Yeah I would agree with minxfishy a keyhole in there would get chased around by the kribs. So its probably not the best idea.

Not just that but Keyholes are really sociable creatures :) They despise living in anything less than bonded pairs, in my experience :)

hi thanks for the brilliant advice i won't get one of those. its a shame tho, they are such lovely fish.
no the kribs are not a pair. at first i thought i had one of each sex and the female hated the male as he was to small for her, but now this 'small male' has grown larger and has such a rounded tail and belly, i have to conclude he is in fact a she.
i don't suppose there are any other cichlids or dwarf cichlids i could add to this setup? every opinion greatly recieved
