Sooo...

I see that your not supposed to keep bettas together?

The guy at the Pet shop said it would be fine, as long if it's more than one female.. and they have been together for just over a month now, and they haven't really fought with each other? They do chase each other now and then, but no biting has occurred, am I just lucky?

Are they both female Bettas?
Generally female Bettas can be kept in Sororities, the more the better so the aggression will be spread out. (5 is usually considered the min.)

Male and female Betta should not be kept together at all.

You are pretty lucky though if you just have two and they get along :)

i have kept a few females with a male before and it was all good for the first few weeks then i lost two of my girls then the next day i lost my last one :( i wouldn't recommend it i was also told by the guy in the fish shop they will be fine.

i would re-home the two girls to either separate tanks or a tank with at least three more females.

this is what i would do from learning from my mistakes but maybe someone else has something to recommend

Thanks a lot for your recommendation, will see what I can do about separating them, but if I want to breed with them, what should I do?
First wait for the male to make a bubble nest, then put the female in?

no bother i do my best to try and help :) am sorry but i dont feel like i have enough knowledge in this area for me to be giving you advice on breeding, im sure if you look through a few posts on this section you will find out n if not just put a new wee topic up asking what you want to know and im sure someone will help you out soon :)

dont keep betta fish together. they are a solitary animal. sooner or later you will run into trouble.

male and females can be kept together, in saying that though it really depends on how aggressive the females are, also the male though 5 females with 1 male could work in a large tank, more so if there all young when you introduce them, sometimes the male is accepted into the sororitie and being if that happens he will follow them around or they will follow him around, problem is most of the time the females will attack the male, for power or to show leader ship, an again a male will turn around sometimes and just start attacking everyone

this is why most of the time males should be alone
and if you just happen to have only aggressive females or even 1 or 2 females are larger then the rest and fight to show who is the alpha female, they will have to be alone also

Well I don't see them being aggressive really...Just sometimes, but not often.

I saw this morning that there is a tiny bit of his fin missing though

Maybe I should just separate them, would probably be for the best, as the others also suggested..

Thanks for the advise guys :good:
